Welcome!

Welcome to the new Sky Cries Mary tribe! SCM is probably my all-time favorite band. The "broke up" in '99 but are currently back together recording some new material.

For up to date info, check out their website and/or join their emailing list at www.skycriesmary.com

If you like SCM too, introduce yourself, tell us what your favorite album(s) or song(s) are, and what "similar" artists (are there any artists who compare?) you enjoy.

Long live fantastic music!

I had no idea who Sky Cries Mary was until I found this tribe by browsing your profile. So I meandered over to their website, and found that I enjoy their music. I'll have to post another time when I've actually listened to more than just a 1 minute sample, however.

Thanks for the unintentional introduction. *hugs*

Oh, and though I don't know what to consider a similar band, I'm also a very big fan of Tom Waits, Modest Mouse, Hawksley Workman, Anathema, Skinny Puppy, and Killing Joke.

    And I'm James. Hi.

      Hi James.

Glad to be of service. :) I wish I could direct you to full songs for you to listen to, but in all my searching, I haven't found links to any. :(

I'm a huge fan of Modest Mouse and Tom Waits too. I checked out your profile and like me, you seem to have a wide variety of taste in music. Enigma, Vast, the Streets, Sigur Ros - all very cool. I'll have to check out the bands I've never heard of. I'm always looking to expand my musical horizons.

Very cool pics, btw. Did you take them all yourself?

Yep, I took the pics myself. I've been meaning to add more, but my camera's become a paperweight over the past few weeks. Months... okay, since I bought it.

I'm stoked they're back together recording...
I can only wish that they'd do this on an ongoing basis as well as their other projects... I love SCM...

oddly, i found the tribe by following you as well, for me it was from the CF tribe.

Roderick and company have been in my top 10 since i first saw them on march 8th, 1991 in a now defunct all ages venue called OK Hotel in Seattle. Eventually I went on to meet most the band, the bass player Joe Bass aka Joe Skyward eventually became a fairly good friend.

I ended up working in the mail room where they got their mail, then my best friend moved into the infamous SCM house in seattle and married their merchandiser.

*awwww... now ive gotten all teary-eyed with memories.

Welll Timeless Turing is the Album that got me into SCM. My wife (new girlfriend at the time) turned me on to them and so I fell in love with SCM at the same time I fell in love with her.

I think MoonBathing Is my favorite album but I wouldn't let you tie me down to that.

Fav Songs... Breathe In, MoonBathing, Timeless Turning, Gone, Elephant Song, Gliding... so many more

I hope its really true they are making new stuff. I love the stuff Anisa did under "Hana", Roderick's early stuff was gritty and No Problemo was pretty good in that vein but I want MORE SCM!!!! The good old(but new) Cosmic Pagan Rockadelic SCM!
