portland/seattle shows...

The two just played shows in Portland and Seattle were wonderful...A bunch of friends from the Seattle expressive dance seen came and we all had an great time dancing and flowing to the music . They played some new songs I had not herd before and it was interesting to listen and get a sense of where the band is now through the new music. The recently passed smoking ban in Seattle made the experience all the more blissful. Lots of subtle anti war themes permeated the evening through the light show and some of Roderic's comments during song brakes. They seem to have a pretty good spirit and one got the sense the band was as tight as ever and headed in some new creative directions.
The Portland show had a slightly shorter set . Both shows featured encores of 2000 light years from home I will be posting a few photos from the Portland show shortly I sure hope they do a wider tour soon. There is talk of getting SCM to play the Oracle gathering at the end of the summer ... stay tuned...

The lighting was not to good to take photos but you get the Idea ... They realy had some nice ambient trippy psychedelic lighting going...

SCM latest show in seattle... WOW ... BLISS!!

WOW what a fantastic show ! It is like my 28th time seeing these guys and I was in absolute bliss It is nothing less then a dream come true that these guys are playing live again . The new songs they introduced were really interesting and I am so longing to here the new CD when they finish it.
They played two on cores and finally Anissa had to end the show to feed the baby,
I f you have not gotten the new Live Cd GET IT! the version of Flying on the CD is way better then the original . (Maby I am a bit biased on this one as I was at the show where they recorded this song and was having a really powerful personal moment wile they were playing it...)
Ya they are my all time favorite band.... and being a person who pretty much lives to dance to this sort of music (I am really into expressive free form ecstatic dance as a practice) it is just amazing to experience it live . It is really nice to have found a small tribe of folks who agree. were any of you at the show.?
I am really looking forward to the new studio recordings coming out... They played a few new songs at the show and I was very impressed.

SCM guitarist Mark Olsen and the seattle band Sage

Former SCM guitarist Mark Olsen formed a band called Sage wile still playing with SCM . I had the extrordenary plesure to see both bands play together wile he was still with SCM . Sage was a psychedelic rock power trio with a very powerful driving sound that is hard to describe . I did a few liqid light shows for them here in Olympia in 1994 . I highly recomend getting sages two cds "FOREST" and "7 STANDARD RD" if you like the more driving side of SCM music. Both are out of print but can be found on the net.
They reunited around 2000 for a few shows at the Seattle venue "Sit and Spin" that were amazing ,altho not well known they were a very respected band by many in the musical world of Seattle in the 90s

New: Questions about SCM

Wow.... an SCM tribe! Very nice. SCM holds a very dear spot for my wife and I. We saw them about 5 times and each one was amazing.

I noticed that there is a "New Project" on their site. Any more info on this? Is it a live compilation? I guess its too much to hope the original band has all gotten back together to tour and stuff with new material.
